Smoothie Recipe: PEANUT POWER

Healthy Choice Meals

1 small apple (75g)
30 g muesli, low GI (2 T)
6 T fat free (skim) milk
75 ml fat free vanilla yoghurt (5 T)
10 g peanut butter (1 rounded t)
Ice cubes, optional
Place all the ingredients in a blender and whiz until smooth.
Nice to know: Fat free milk and yoghurt is recommended as there is a lot of fat coming from the peanut butter.

      Hi Reinette

Good question! It is okay to have a scoop of protein powder and to also include a small portion of a healthy fat such as peanut butter. What is so great about the peanut butter is that you only need to use a small amount to get a delicious flavour. The amount used wont really provide a lot of protein so adding some protein powder is a good way to help the smoothie be more filling and slow releasing, that way you will fell fuller for longer. I often use protein powder in my smoothies and still add one extra source of fat such as peanut butter or nuts or seeds or maybe an omega 3 oil.
